Advanced Tissue & Musculoskeletal Specialist | Wellness Consultant
My path began in 2007, shaped by a life-altering motorcycle accident that left me unable to walk for a year. The crash shattered my left wrist, fractured my hip, damaged my pelvic floor, tore my left knee, and caused severe cervical spine injuries—not to mention the lasting scars from road rash. I was handed a prescription for over 15 bottles of pills, a generic physical therapy plan, and a grim prognosis that I’d never live a normal life again. The therapy I received offered only fleeting relief, and the relentless pain felt insurmountable. For a time, I believed I had no choice but to surrender to my circumstances. Yet, I refused to accept that this was the end of my story. By 2009, I had regained some mobility and decided to take control of my future. I began a career in emergency medicine, becoming an Emergency Medical Technician. For five years, I served as a first responder, working alongside the Los Angeles Fire Department in high-pressure, critical-care environments. I also trained in phlebotomy at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, developing expertise in IV administration and medical laboratory procedures. My emergency medical background gave me an intimate understanding of trauma and its affect on the human body. It also exposed me to significant gaps in long-term recovery and preventative care. In my personal experience, the standard approaches to rehabilitation, often managed symptoms without addressing the root causes of suffering. This realization ignited a profound shift in my focus, driving me to explore more holistic and functional approaches to healing.
A Journey Around the World
Determined to deepen my understanding of biomechanics and recovery, I began studying Physical Therapy at Cal State Northridge. While the program offered valuable insights, I felt constrained by the conventional Western approach. Craving a broader perspective, I took a leap of faith and embarked on a six-year journey around the world—traveling by motorcycle to seek out other forms of healing that was not provided to me in a university setting. During my travels, I found some of the most unique practitioners of physical therapy and chiropractic care. I had the privilege of learning directly from renowned healers in remote communities, where their methods, rooted in centuries of tradition, offered profound and transformative insights into diverse healing modalities. These hands-on experiences provided a depth of understanding and practical wisdom that complemented, and often exceeded, what is typically gained from traditional academic programs or textbooks, enriching my approach to wellness in ways I could never have imagined. Most importantly, I found a healing technique that completely relieved me from the chronic pain and limitations I had once been told were permanent. Through the transformative practices I encountered, I fully healed. This experience not only reshaped my understanding of recovery but also reaffirmed my belief in the body's extraordinary capacity to heal when given the right tools and care. I am now in the strongest and best shape of my life.
Building a Practice in Colombia
In 2013, I put my newfound knowledge into practice by establishing a thriving Manual Therapy business in Medellín, Colombia, to help others who suffer from what I had gone through. I started by working with high-performing athletes from the Medellín Colombian CrossFit team and apprenticing under renowned physical therapists in the region. This pivotal chapter marked the start of my specialization in Neuromuscular Therapy. My work quickly gained recognition, leading to a partnership with local chiropractors to better serve the community. My practice attracted clients from around the world, each with extremely unique challenges that enriched my expertise and strengthened my ability to adapt to diverse needs.
Returning to the United States
After two successful years in Colombia, I returned to the United States to pursue my dream of becoming a doctor of integrative medicine. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Physiology with a minor in Ayurvedic Medicine at Maharishi University of Management while running a small business for the university and completed a two-year immersion in Transcendental Meditation. I continued my education with pre-medical studies at Bastyr University and apprenticed under experts in osteopathy, Ayurvedic wellness, and physical therapy. This academic endeavor not only expanded my knowledge but also allowed me to refine my holistic healing techniques, blending my skill set with modern science to deliver lasting results.
Looking Ahead
Currently, I am advancing my education by pursuing a Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. Alongside my studies, I am working to build capital to establish a comprehensive acupuncture and recovery clinic. My unconventional path has provided me with a depth of knowledge and adaptability that is rare in the field of integrative medicine. By combining global healing traditions with cutting-edge science, I am committed to helping others unlock their body’s innate potential for recovery and transformation.
